The ICC - International Certificate Conference e.V. is a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) with participatory status at the Council of Europe. ICC sets standards for a transnational network of language learners. The ICC, known as The European Language Network is a not-for-profit-organisation bringing together people actively involved in foreign language teaching and providing them with a forum for exchange. At the moment, 46 educational organisations in 18 European countries are members of the ICC. The ICC reflects and embodies a spirit of international understanding and cross-cultural co-operation. One of the major fields of work is the training and certification of teachers as a means of improving the quality of language teaching. Recently, the ICC has concentrated more intensively on information and communication technologies in language learning and language teaching. The Internet, as a new means of communication, teaching and learning is of special interest here. The ICC contributes to the EUROVOLT project with their experience in the certification and accreditation process and achievement in language acquisition as well as in the certification of language teachers and trainers in adult, continuing and vocational education.

In her capacity as head of department at an adult education association Christel Schneider worked as local secretary for the Cambridge ESOL examinations as well as the coordinator and examiner for the main suite Cambridge examinations, telc (The European Language Certificates) and Goethe examinations. She worked as visiting lecturer at Hamburg University in the Department of Education for more than ten years. Her published works include a wide range of materials on course design and teacher training, as well as several course books and various articles. Her knowledge of online training stretches over a period of more than ten years. She worked as online tutor for the Institute of Education at the University of London and for the Northern Illinois University de Kalb as well as for Abacus Learning Systems, UK, developing and implementing various online courses in the area of online teacher training and teaching business English online.
