Pre-requistes of trainees/ Voraussetzungen:
- E-Mail address and Internet access, computer and Internet literacy
- Time commitment approx. 5-10hs weekly for 18 weeks (minimum of 100 hours, additionally 30-50hs for development of own online course units).
- Working knowledge of GERMAN Level B 2 (GERS/CEFR = Common European Framework for Languages) (English Level B 2 also advisable)
- Ample experience in language teaching
- Some experience in vocationally oriented language courses, or planning to teach those online soon
- Familiarity with the course planning process (needs analysis, course design, planning lessons in detail)
- A brief outline of a vocationally oriented or professional online language course to be set up by the trainee online during the EUROVOLT training; it has to be submitted on application (target group and setting of the course, aims and contents, course structure and schedule, working modes)
Certificate:
After successful completion of the EUROVOLT teacher training course, participants/trainees receive either
- the qualified EUROVOLT CERTIFICATE of Participation OR
- the Eurolta-EUROVOLT DIPLOMA issued by ICC/Die Wiener Volkshochschulen GmbH (based on the trainee's dossier/ePortfolio containing samples of course work).
The EUROVOLT course is accredited by ICC - The language Network and WeiterBildungsAkademie Austria. The course is awarded 4 ECTS for Didactic Competence.
 
Course Description:
The EUROVOLT course is an 18-week-online course dealing with the development of online vocational/professional language courses. It was developed as part of the EUROVOLT via VLE project (2005-2007). It consists of nine content units within the three main areas/modules of Teaching Online, Learning Online, and Planning and Evaluation. The objectives are dealt with at two levels. Thus, trainees are able to work at a level that is beneficial to them with respect to their background knowledge, aims and ambitions. The following issues are dealt with:
1. Online Unterrichten
a) Unterricht mit Internet Plattformen
b) Multimedia Internet Ressourcen finden, bewerten, im Kurs verwenden oder selbst erstellen (z. B. mit HotPotatoes; Web 2.00 Tools, Weblogs, Webquests; Online Corpora)
Eine Online Unterrichtseinheit für Ihre Zielgruppe mit passenden Übungsmöglichkeiten selbst entwickeln und erstellen (vom Formulieren der Aufgabenstellung über Übungen zum individuellen oder gemeinsamen Lernen bis hin zu Möglichkeiten des Feedbacks)
c) eModeration: Kommunikation über das Internet mittels Skype, Chat, Diskussionsforum, E-Mail und Feedback.
2. Online Lernen
a) Online Beurteilung (z. B. mit den "Ich kann ..." Beschreibungen des Europäischen Referenzrahmens für Sprachen oder Selbstevaluation mit HotPotatoes)
b) Selbständiges Lernen (mittels ePortfolio, eTandem, best practice Modelle, Selbststudienmaterialien)
c) Kollaboratives Lernen im Internet: Gruppendynamik, Zeit Management, psychologische Aspekte
3. Planning and Evaluating
a) Design einer Online/Blended Lerneinheit
b) Online/Blended Kursdesign
c) Organisatorische Aspekte: Kontext, logische Abfolgen der Arbeit and Support, Evaluation, Budgetierung, das POET Prinzip (Pedagogy-Organisation-Economy-Technology: die von einander abhängigen Bereiche Pädagogik, Organisation, Wirtschaftlichkeit und Technologie).
Optional: Technische Aspekte und extra Ressourcen (weitere Web 2.00 Tools, virtuelle Lernwelten, Free Ware/Share Ware, Lernstile, Gender Mainstreaming etc.).
d) Abschießender Online Workshop, der sich mit der EUROVOLT Kursevaluation und Ihren möglichen weiteren Plänen beschäftigt.
Working Modes/ Arbeitsweisen:
This course represents a blended approach that combines collaboration online (with the other course trainees/peers and tutors) with individual reading and reflecting, practical work on trainees' own online courses, research on the Internet (discussions with colleagues at home, etc.). It should be emphasised that it is not an individual distance learning course. The exchange between trainees (among peers) is an essential part of this course, therefore it is vital that trainees are able to go online several times a week and participate in the online discussions on a regular basis.
Die LehrgangsteilnehmerInnen haben die Möglichkeit, einen eigen Kurs auf Moodle/VHS Meidling zu entwicklen.
