Annabell Preussler
Since its foundation around 25 years ago the FernUniversität in Hagen/University of Hagen has developed into one of the biggest universities in Germany with currently around 40,000 students and 1,700 courses. As the first and only distance teaching university in the German-speaking countries and regions it offers degree programmes at the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as research-oriented academic further education. There are six faculties: Computer Science; Economics; Education, Social Sciences and Humanities; Electrical and Information Engineering; Mathematics; and Law.The study contents are conveyed through printed study units, computer-based learning programmes, audio and video cassettes as well as using up-to-date information and communication technologies on the world wide web. By its fundamental decision in favour of the blanket use of the New Media and the development of the Education and Knowledge Space: Virtual University, the FernUniversität has phrased its response to society`s demands for more flexible education and new models of lifelong learning. There are 6 faculties at the FernUniversität/University of Hagen, appr. 80 professors, about 430 lectures and academic stuff and 770 non-academics. The department of Department Educational Sciences and Media Research deals with educational technologies and evaluation.
Annabell Preußler is responsible for the internal EUROVOLT project evaluation (originally in collaboration with Peter Baumgartner who started working at Donau Universität Krems in May 2006).
